Are you looking to work from home but just don’t know where to begin? Inshaallah this short article will help you on your way.

Making the decision to work at home is an exciting one, and inshaallah, in the long run comes with many benefits: more money, more time with the family, a sense of doing something for yourself. But the excitement can fizzle fast when faced with the next decision, “Well, what should I do?!” Asking a few key questions can help you on your way.

First to consider, do you want to work at home for a company, or do you want to be the boss? If you would like to jump into a ready-made package customer service for a big retailer, medical billing, eBay’s trading assistant program, or something similar might work out wonderful. Most likely one training course will have you on your way.

If that does not sound appealing perhaps a home business that offers a more personal creative outlet is the answer. Do you have a hobby, a passion, a personal strong point that earns compliments? Are you knowledgeable about something to the point that others ask for your advice? If so, use these strong points to brainstorm: “What product or service could I offer?”

If you do not feel like you have any marketable interests, don’t despair! You’re an expert at something too. You shop for your needs and the needs of your family. You are an expert at what you like, the quality you like, and you know the price you are willing to pay for it.  Love Abayas? Handbags? Toys for the little ones? Books of Ilm? Cooking Supplies? Inshaallah the right connection with a wholesaler will open up the world of being in business for yourself.

Whether you choose to work a customer service type job, or plan to start a business of your own, it is wise to consider how safe the venture is. Ask how much time and capital do you need to, and are willing to invest. Consider if you have a market and how your product or service can fulfill a niche. Seek out others already established and ask them to explain the start up process, or research a business selling a similar product or service. Write your plans down and discuss. InshaAllah, after answering a few key questions, doing research, seeking advice, and praying Istikarah you will be ready to choose a work at home venture!
